	Most people want to be able to compare their options before making a decision. Everyone wants to get the most value for their money and they want to be happy with the choices they make. VALUE is based on the wants and needs of each individual. What is important or acceptable to one may be a waste of time or totally unacceptable to someone else. Because we want everyone that stays in our cottages to have a wonderful and memorable vacation, we have put together answers to frequently asked questions to help you choose the place you will love. (Note: All information given is based on normal market conditions and can vary with individual properties.)
Why should I spend my money on a vacation? Everyone must decide what is important to them when spending money. You may need to decide if you should buy a new TV, Car, Computer, House or take a vacation? The #1 thing that makes families “close” is spending time together. Vacations help rejuvenate your body, spirit, and soul. Studies have shown that taking a vacation actually will make you more productive when you return to your job. Why should I go to Dayton's Sedona Vacation Cottages rather than a hotel or condo? Our cottage is located in Oak Creek Canyon which is regarded as the prettiest part of Sedona and in fact all of Arizona. There are only a few “pockets” of privately held land in Oak Creek Canyon which is in the Coconino National Forest. There are only about 400 homes in the 12 miles of the canyon with only a few choices for lodging and not all are on the creek or have private creek access. You will enjoy the rural hidden setting of our cottages yet are only 4 miles from all of the conveniences of Sedona where you will find many nice restaurants, shopping & nightlife. Our cottage is well equipped with the same amenities you have at home. Fish, swim or lie in a hammock at the creeks edge. The cost of your vacation can be shared by two or three families. You will be able to play in the creek together. You can bring your food and can eat meals together yet each have their private space. What type of accommodations are available in the Sedona area? Private Homes/Cottages, Condos, Hotels Who rents Private Homes/Cottages and what are the differences? Dayton's Sedona Vacation Cottages. We are not only the Management Company for the cottage, we are also the owners. That makes us very unique. Because we own this cottage, we have total control over the maintenance and we can guarantee the house will be available for your use when your vacation date arrives. Because we own our cottage, we can answer, in detail, all of your questions. Other than a 10% fee to cover the cost of cleaning and paper supplies our prices are All Inclusive with no hidden charges. Our deposit is 100% Refundable, with no problems. Rental Management Companies These companies rent homes for private owners. Their inventory changes on a regular basis. This makes it more difficult to make reservations far in advance or go to the same house year after year. There is also a risk that the owner will take the house off the rental market before you go, or decide that they want to occupy the house themselves, causing a cancellation for you. In many cases, the owner is responsible for the maintenance of his own house. In this case, if a problem comes up during your vacation, the owner will probably be out of town. You will be renting from a Rental Agent that may never have seen the house they are renting to you. Often times, prices quoted Do Not Include a Cleaning Fee or Taxes. Some times, part of the Deposit is Non Refundable. Private Home Owners Many individual homeowners rent out their homes once in a while. Most of the time, the owner handles all their own maintenance on the home. If you have a problem during your vacation period, the owner will probably be out of town. The chances are higher that the house isn't getting immediate maintenance since the work must be scheduled around the owners available free time. Condos You will be able to rent a number of condos. They will probably not be right next to each other. They are usually not large enough to gather many families. Hotels You will be able to reserve enough hotel rooms. You will need 1 room per family, maybe more. All meals will have to be eaten out. The cost can be very high. Other Private Homes It is not an easy task to find someone else that has a home that sits right at the creek and can accommodate up to 6 people and can offer private creek access. What are the Cost Comparisons between our cottage, homes, condos & hotels? Just looking at the quoted per night cost of lodging can be very misleading when you aren't considering the number of people that are staying for that cost and all other additional expenses you may incur. To get your Total Vacation Cost, remember to include costs that are not included in the Per/Night quote you got: additional taxes, cleaning fees, cost for extra guests, meals, transportation, nonrefundable deposits. Since most vacations are based on a per/person cost, after computing a TOTAL, divide by the number of people you will be taking and you will be able to easily see which property you are considering will give you the BEST VALUE. Don't forget to add the Value of the EXPERIENCE you wish from this vacation. Sometimes it’s easy to only think about the COST. Obviously, it will cost more to rent a private home on a beautiful creek than to rent a small room in an inexpensive hotel in town. Your precious vacation time must be spent wisely if you want to return home rejuvenated and with those wonderful memories! Dayton's Sedona Vacation Cottage There are only one addition to our rates: 10% to cover cleaning and paper products. If you compare your per person/per day cost of your vacation, you will find out how reasonable renting a cottage can be. As an example six people can stay in our two bedroom two bath split bedroom floor plan for a 7 night week for $990.00, that's less than $25.00 per person per night. You can bring your own food, rather than eating all meals in a restaurant. As well as saving money on food, you can bring your own healthy food and your favorite snacks. Condos Often times, prices quoted do not include Taxes and Cleaning Fees. There are many condos in Sedona (mostly timeshares). Many condos quote prices for a maximum of 4 people. A Per Day rate is added for anyone over the 4 people. Most have a kitchen so you can bring your own food. Hotels Prices quoted are often for 2 people. Prices quoted normally do not include taxes. A Per Person/Per Day charge is normally made for more than 2 people. If you have 2 or more families, you will need to rent a room for each family or, sometimes, each couple. You will need to eat All Meals in restaurants, which adds considerably to your TOTAL vacation cost. If COST is the most important factor to you, you can find some fairly inexpensive hotels/motels in town that will give you a bed. How do I know that I am going to get what I see on the web site? Dayton's Sedona Vacation Cottage We only have the cottage pictured so what you see is what you get. Other Homes Private Homes There are others that advertise "Creek View" but understand that property owners ON the creek Own to the middle of the creek and unless you have invited access all you will have is "A View" except for public access from National Forest land. Many homes are rented that sit on the rows BEHIND the First Row of houses on the creek. If you rent Off the creek, you will need to find a public creek access to get to the water. Hotels There are only a few major hotels/time shares that are on the creek or even close by. If they have creek access you may possibly be sharing a small part of the creek with many people. To help you in your decision, ask yourself these questions. If you answer YES to these questions, you may enjoy a vacation cottage. Do I want to be on the ground floor, “right on the creek or have access to private creek frontage?” Do I want some privacy and quiet times? Do I want to spend maximum Quality Time with my family? Do I want to sit on the porch or deck and watch my kids play in the creek? Do I want to save money by bringing my own food? Do I want to sit on the porch/deck or in a hammock and read a good book or just watch and listen to the creek? Do I want to get the best value by sharing the cost? If the answer is YES to these questions, you may enjoy a Condo or Hotel in town. Do I want everything within a few yards of where I am? Do I want to be close to restaurants to eat out ALL meals? Do I want to be close to the bars? Do I want to be able to cancel my reservation at any time?
